Two die in Swiss car plunge

Two people died today and at least eight were injured when a car plunged off a bridge in the centre of the Swiss city of Lausanne and landed on the road below.

The car was crossing the Grand-Pont bridge when it suddenly swerved onto the pavement, hitting several pedestrians, and smashed through the barrier, police said.
