Baby in hospital after swallowing ecstasy

A 10-month-old baby was under observation in hospital tonight after swallowing what was believed to be an Ecstasy tablet.

The baby boy was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance after an incident at a house in Banff, Aberdeenshire, yesterday.

Grampian Police has launched an investigation and a 21-year-old man is to be reported.

The drama unfolded during the early hours of Sunday morning when the boy was taken to Banff Police Station by his mother.

Officers then took the mother and baby to the local Chalmers Hospital.

The baby was later transferred to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

A hospital spokesman tonight described the infant’s condition as “satisfactory”.

The family of the baby has declined to comment on what happened.
