Inmate beats up American 'Johnny Taliban'
An inmate at a California prison has been charged with beating up American Taliban John Walker Lindh.
Richard Morrison, 29, attacked the 22-year-old as he was preparing for evening prayers at the jail in Victorville.
Guards said Lindh had “only very minor injuries” after he was punched.
The Muslim convert is serving 20 years after admitting helping Afghanistan’s Taliban fighters. He was arrested after the November 2001 uprising by prisoners in Mazar-e-Sharif.
Morrison was jailed for five years for setting fire to a black church in Nevada. He faces an extra six months for the assault.
