Teenager shoots teacher and commits suicide

A 16-year-old boy walked into his school in southern Germany today and shot his female teacher in the leg before killing himself, police said.

The incident happened at about 9am (8am Irish time) at a school in Coburg, police spokeswoman Ingrid Beyer said.

Coburg is about 150 miles south-west of Berlin.

Students fled the school as word of the shooting spread, but no one else was hurt, Beyer said.

“We know nothing yet about the motives,” she said. “The teacher is getting medical attention.”
