Boy killed for breaking cricket trophy
Angry members of a Bangladeshi school cricket squad battered a team-mate to death after he accidentally smashed a new trophy they had won.
The teenage victim was killed after the team won the steel and wood trophy in a competition in Gazipur town, 20 miles north of the capital Dhaka.
The boy, Rajiv, was waving the trophy in the air when he dropped it on a concrete pavement near the school. It broke into several pieces.
His cheering team-mates suddenly became furious and attacked Rajiv with iron rods and sticks, leaving him seriously injured.
He died on the way to hospital, said police. Seven boys were arrested.
