Explorer starts Atlantic balloon record bid
Explorer David Hempleman-Adams took off from America’s eastern seaboard today on his second attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a hot air balloon.
He took to the air from a baseball field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at 3.15am Irish time (10:15pm local time on Friday night) in a seven-foot by four-foot wicker basket suspended from an AM-8 Roziere balloon, which uses both hot air and helium.
