Palestinian militants to announce three month ceasefire

Islamic militants have agreed to halt attacks on Israelis for three months and a formal truce will be announced before the weekend, Palestinian negotiators said today.

Palestinian Authority officials and Hamas leaders in the Gaza Strip insisted the deal is not final, while Israel and the United States remained sceptical, saying the Palestinians must quickly disarm the militias.
