Refugees shelled in Liberian US Embassy grounds

Explosives landed within a United States diplomatic residential complex in Liberia’s besieged capital Monrovia today, detonating among thousands of terrified Liberians crowded into the compound to escape fighting which is engulfing the city.

Many of the refugees fled from the shelling, some of them wounded and others carrying injured family or friends.
