Thai terror cell members still at large

Some members of the Jemaah Islamiyah terror network remain at large in Thailand and are aiming to disrupt a summit of world leaders in Bangkok in October, the country’s police chief said today.

Officers have a list of suspects and are doing their best to catch them, said General Sant Sarutanond.

Earlier this month police arrested three Muslims from southern Thailand and charged them with subversion.

They are accused of plotting to bomb foreign embassies during the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation summit, where world leaders including US President George Bush are due to meet.
