Tens of thousands die of malnutrition

Tens of thousands of Ethiopian children have died from acute malnutrition compounded by a severe drought, a top United Nations official said today.

Carolyn McAskie, the UN Deputy Emergency Relief Co-ordinator, said entrenched poverty in one of the world’s 10 poorest nations had also contributed to the deaths.
