Handyman admits holding women as sex slaves
A retired New York handyman today admitted holding five women captive as sex slaves in an underground bunker over a 15-year period.
John Jamelske, 68, was arrested in April and charged with holding a 16-year-old girl hostage for almost seven months in a two-room concrete dungeon he built under the back yard of his Syracuse home.
The two small rooms contained a small tub, a bucket for a toilet, a microwave oven and a mattress.
Following his arrest, police identified four other women who said they had been abducted and raped by him since 1988.
Under a plea deal, Jamelske could serve 18 years to life. Sentencing was scheduled for July 15.
