Fifteen Egyptians were killed and 34 injured when their passenger bus collided with a lorry today in north-western Saudi Arabia, an Egyptian diplomat said.

Fifteen Egyptians were killed and 34 injured when their passenger bus collided with a lorry today in north-western Saudi Arabia, an Egyptian diplomat said.

Egyptian consul Ahmed Fouad al-Bedawi said the crash happened at 7am local time in the town of Qalyba, some 120 miles south of the Saudi-Jordanian border.

The bus, carrying 49 Egyptians, was heading to the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

The injured were taken to two hospitals in Tabuk, some 70 miles west of Qalyba.

The fate of the lorry driver was not immediately known and no cause of the crash was given.
