Japan lifted the economic sanctions it levied against Iraq in 1990, following a similar decision by the UN last week.

The Cabinet agreed in a meeting to stop the sanctions, which had curbed imports, exports and economic co-operation with Iraq following its invasion of Kuwait, the Foreign Ministry said.
