Poor maintenance blamed for Potters Bar rail crash

Poor maintenance led to the points failure which caused the Potters Bar crash, an official report into the May 2002 accident said today.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) report listed a catalogue of faults which led to a passenger train derailing just outside Potters Bar station in Hertfordshire, with the loss of seven lives.
