Algerian quake toll rises to 1,467

The death toll in Algerian earthquake rose this afternoon to 1,467, with more than 7,000 injured, according to sources in the area.

The quake levelled villages east of the capital Algiers on Wednesday night.

Whole families were among the dead after the 6.8 magnitude quake flattened apartment blocks.
