Bush launches re-election bid

President George Bush launched his re-election bid today, formally filing papers to seek a second term with his post-war popularity soaring despite a sluggish economy.

On orders issued by the president late last week, a White House clerk filed formal notice of his intentions at the Federal Election Commission.
