It is now understood that an Irish woman was in one of the compounds at the time of the attacks in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh.

However, she is understood to have escaped without serious injuries.

The first secretary to the Irish ambassador in Riyadh said that it is very early at this stage to know all the facts.

However, Conor Barrington added that no Irish citizens have been reported as having serious injuries.

"As of now, there are no indications of serious injury to an Irish person."
