Explosion shatters Moscow restaurant

An explosion rocked a restaurant on a busy street in central Moscow tonight. At least ten people were injured.

The explosion ripped through the restaurant in Old Arbat Street, about a 10 minute walk from the Kremlin.

Marina Maximova, a Ekho Moskvy radio reporter, said she saw heavy smoke over the two storey building. She quoted witnesses as saying that the explosion was powerful.

The explosion came only hours after a deadly truck bomb explosion ripped through a government compound in northern Chechnya on Monday, killing at least 41 people including six children and wounding more than 100 others, officials said.

It was unclear whether the two incidents were related.
