A tropical storm lashed Bangladesh’s capital, injuring about 60 people, knocking down trees and electricity poles and plunging the city of 10 million people into darkness, authorities said today.

Most of the injuries in Dhaka were caused by large trees crashing down on cars and buses during yesterday’s storm, which packed rain and winds of up to 66mph.
