Iraq: Grenade attack injures US troops

Seven US soldiers were wounded today when two grenades were thrown over a wall and into an American compound in the tense Iraqi town of Fallujah.

The attack came after US troops twice opened fire on demonstrators in the town. US officials said that both times the soldiers were shooting back after taking fire from the anti-American protesters.

None of today’s injuries to the soldiers from the 3rd Armoured Cavalry Regiment was life threatening, Capt Frank Rosenblatt said.
