Israelis remember Holocaust
Israelis took time to remember the six million Jews who died at the hands of the Nazis and to commemorate the anniversary of the best-known uprising against the Germans.
Air raid sirens were to sound throughout the country at 8am Irish time today, marking a two-minute period of silence, a symbol of the importance of the Holocaust in the Israeli psyche. Motorists were to stop their cars and stand next to them during the two minutes.
