The former Iraqi oil minister, Amir Rashid Muhammad al-Ubaydi, has surrendered to coalition forces, the US Central Command said.

The former Iraqi oil minister, Amir Rashid Muhammad al-Ubaydi, has surrendered to coalition forces, the US Central Command said.

In a brief statement issued from Camp As sayliyah in Qatar, the command said he surrendered yesterday and was in coalition custody.

Al-Ubaydi was listed as No 47 on the coalition’s list of the 55 most-wanted officials from Saddam Hussein’s regime.

In the deck of cards issued by the coalition showing faces of the wanted officials, he was the six of spades.
