Argentina: Presidential rivals head for run-off
Former president Carlos Menem led Peronist rival Nestor Kirchner in presidential voting today, but official results indicated the race was too close to call and Argentina would hold its first run-off in history.
With 72% of the ballot tallied, Menem led with 23.9% of the vote – just ahead of the 21.9% for Kirchner, governor of the oil-rich Patagonian province of Santa Cruz.
