US and North Korea to hold talks

The US and North Korea are to hold talks in the Chinese capital Beijing, it has been reported.

The New York Times reported on its web site last night that President George W Bush has approved a plan for the US to begin negotiations with North Korea in Beijing next week. State Department and White House officials did not immediately return calls seeking comment late yesterday.
