Vatican offers to help rebuild Iraq
The Vatican today offered its help in the rebuilding of Iraq and distribution of aid, saying the collapse of Saddam Hussein’s regime offered a “significant opportunity” for the future of the Iraqi people.
The Vatican, which opposed the US-led war, said it hoped fighting in the rest of the country, outside Baghdad, would end soon and spare the Iraqis further suffering.
