Reid appointed House of Commons leader

Former Northern Secretary John Reid was today appointed Leader of the House of Commons, Downing Street said.

Ian McCartney replaces Dr Reid as Labour Party chairman and minister without portfolio in the Cabinet, said a Downing Street spokesman.
