B-52s leave for Iraq bombing

Heavy B-52 bombers left Britain today and two US officials said that signalled major night-time air strikes against Iraq.

One US official involved in military planning said the B-52s had been scrambled en masse, and said the strikes would be bigger than anything seen thus far in the conflict.
