Tamil Tigers 'sink Chinese boat'

A suspected Tamil Tiger rebel fleet sank a vessel carrying Chinese workers off Sri Lanka’s east coast, killing 17 people, an official said today.

Eight Chinese and one Sri Lankan were rescued by another vessel after the Fu-Yung-yu 225 was sunk north of the rebel stronghold of Mullativu yesterday, Sri Lankan Navy spokesman Jayantha Perera said.
