Troops advancing towards oil fields

British units have penetrated into Iraq to provide US marines with vital artillery cover, according to reports.

Troops from the 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery crossed the border around two hours ago headed for oil refineries near the city of Basra.
