The Interior Ministry said two small flasks containing traces of the poison were discovered in a left luggage depot at the Gare de Lyon which serves the south of France.

The French Interior Ministry said on Thursday that traces of the highly toxic poison ricin have been found in the Gare de Lyon railway station in Paris.

Traces of ricin were found during a police raid on a flat in north London earlier this year.
