High noon at OK Corral

Allied soldiers stationed in the Kuwaiti desert today got the order to break camp and be ready to move within hours after President Bush gave Saddam Hussein a deadline to leave his country or face attack.

Troops in the A Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment of the US army placed the big tents where they once slept on cargo trucks and loaded their ammunition and personal combat gear on their Bradley fighting vehicles.

"I’m kind of excited, wanting to see if we go north, faster we do, the faster we go home," said Specialist Servando Diaz.

From the deserts to the Gulf region to military based in the United States, Americans in uniform watched Bush’s message – and prepared to act on it.
