'We don't need the UN to act' - Bush

US President George W Bush today said he would press for a vote on the crucial second UN resolution on Iraq within in a few days, no matter what the likely result.

The President said diplomacy over the crisis had reached its “final stages” and called on US forces to be ready for action.
