All 97 people on board an Algerian airliner died today when it crashed shortly after take-off from a town in the south of the North African country.

The Air Algerie Boeing 737 crashed just minutes after the plane left Tamanrasset on a flight to the capital, Algiers. The airline said all on board died.

Algeria, an oil and gas rich nation, has been struggling to end a decade-long insurgency by Islamic militants.
