Vatican sends Cardinal to Iraq

The Pope is to send a senior Cardinal to Baghdad in an attempt to avert war and persuade Iraq to cooperate with the international community.

The Vatican announced today that Cardinal Roger Etche Garay, a Frenchman who has worker on delicate missions for the Pope in the past, is leaving for the Gulf tomorrow.
