Woman admits helping lover hide bodies

A Singapore woman has been sentenced to 12 years in jail for helping her British lover allegedly dispose of the bodies of two murder victims.

Audrey Ong, 23, pleaded guilty on Friday to charges of helping Michael McCrea remove the bodies of the two people he allegedly killed in his apartment on January 2, 2002, and to removing bloodstains from the murder scene.

"The accused’s overall conduct was sordid, macabre, callous, shocking, reprehensible, and grossly offensive," District Court Judge Richard Magnus was quoted as saying.

McCrea, 44, is in custody in Melbourne, Australia, where authorities have yet to decide whether to extradite him to Singapore to stand trial for the murder his driver, Kho Nai Guan, and the driver’s girlfriend, Lan Ya Ming.
