US economy grows just 0.7% in fourth quarter

The US economy slowed in the final quarter of last year, growing at an annual rate of just 0.7%.

The meagre rise was blamed on consumers who turned cautious in the face of worries about war and terrorism, a rollercoaster stock market and a stagnant job climate.
