Sharon says unity in Israel can defeat terrorists
Ariel Sharon has issued a rallying call to end terrorist violence after a resounding victory in the Israeli elections.
Israel's re-elected Prime Minister has called for national unity against "the murderous hatred" of Palestinian militants.
He added he would try to establish a broad-based coalition that would include the defeated Labour party.
"The plan can bring Israel victory over terrorism and open a real path to peace," Sharon said.
Sharon said he would "turn to all the Zionist parties to join a broad national unity government" that would have the same guidelines as his previous coalition.
