Spain makes al-Qaida arrests

Spanish police have arrested at least ten suspected al-Qaida terrorists in raids across the northeast of the country.

Around a dozen apartments were raided in Barcelona and Gerona, an Interior Ministry spokesman said. He added the number of arrests is likely to go up.

The detainees have not been identified, but are believed to belong to al-Qaida's Spanish cell.

Spanish National Radio quoted other officials as saying the suspects had been trained in guerrilla camps run by Osama bin Laden.
