US plan bioterror monitoring

The United States is hoping environmental monitors scattered across the country will give early warnings if smallpox, anthrax or other deadly bioterrorism agents are released into the air.

The system would fit new filters to many of the 3,000 existing US monitoring stations, an administration official said.
