Police trace missing woman called Barry Manilow

A woman who answers only to the name of Barry Manilow has been discovered hiding in farm buildings and was today returned to the psychiatric unit where she was being treated.

The 59-year-old white woman disappeared from the Peter Hodgkinson Centre in Lincoln two days ago, wearing a green turban and a black woolly trench coat.

She had previously been placed in care after she was found in a church carrying nothing but a plastic bag full of records by the American singer whose name she uses.

Investigations have since suggested that her real name is Tanya Betts, but this has still not been confirmed.

Police managed to trace the woman in Snelland, north of Lincoln, after she knocked on a door asking for a cup of tea and the occupant of the house recognised her as the missing patient.
