Cold spells kill 42 in South Asia

Icy winds from the Himalayas have killed 42 people in South Asia, pushing the death toll from a month of bitter weather to over 1,000.

Temperatures have dropped as low as 3C (37F) across much of the region, claiming at least 1,028 lives in Bangladesh, India and Nepal.
