Iraq accuses US of seeking war

With the US military buildup in the Gulf reaching invasion strength, Iraq today accused Washington of wanting war despite Baghdad’s repeated assertions it has no mass destruction weapons.

The Iraqi declaration, published in a front-page newspaper editorial, came as international peace calls grew, with the pope and a group of US academics urging more diplomacy and dialogue to avert a war.
