Four children were taken to hospital tonight after their coach was involved in an accident on a motorway in the UK.

Four children were taken to hospital tonight after their coach was involved in an accident on a motorway in the UK.

Cheshire Police said the children were only slightly injured in the accident, at junction 16/17 on the M6 near Sandbach services, Cheshire, at 6.50pm.

The rest of the coach party was being taken back to Sandbach High School.

A police spokesman said the motorway was closed after the accident. He added that the injured children had been taken to Leighton Hospital in Crewe.

A spokesman at the hospital said: “We have had three children brought in so far, with two more expected.

“They all have minor injuries.”

It was understood that there were about 50 children on board the coach at the time of the accident.
