Passenger flight disappears over Amazon
An airliner with 42 passengers has disappeared over Peru's Amazon jungle after it lost contact with controllers minutes before its expected landing.
Tans airline Flight 1396 was three minutes away from the airport in the jungle city of Chachapoyas, 400 miles north of Lima, when radio contact was lost
"That is when we lost contact with the plane and we don't have more information," said Tans spokesman Jorge Belevan.
He said the Air Force has begun searching for the plane, a Fokker 28.
