Zimbabweans have started the new year with long food queues as the supply of basic commodities from South Africa dries up.

From the fuel, maize meal, sugar, salt, cooking oil, bread and milk queues they endured for most of 2002, Zimbabweans are now also suffering from new shortages of beef, chicken, eggs and soft drinks.
