A strong earthquake off of Honduras’s Caribbean coast shook the mainland but caused no reported damage.

The quake, recorded at magnitude 6.0, occurred near the island of Guanaja, about 110 miles north east of the coastal city of La Ceiba, according to the US National Earthquake Information Centre in Denver, Colorado.

Honduras’s Permanent Emergency Commission said the quake was felt along the northern coast.
