Aviation experts from France have joined the search for a Taiwanese airline’s French-made cargo plane that crashed over the weekend in the Taiwan Strait during a flight to Macau.

Investigators were trying to determine whether sounds detected by search teams were beacon signals emitted by the TransAsia Airways plane’s so-called black boxes, or cockpit voice and flight data recorders, chief investigator Kay Yong said.
