Gas leak kills seven in China
Gas leaking from a ruptured pipe in north-eastern China killed seven people and sent 41 others to the hospital, government newspapers and a local official said.
The leak was reported by a first-floor resident of an apartment building in the port city of Dalian, who rose early to find his two dogs foaming at the mouth, a typical symptom of gas poisoning, the China Daily said.
Five people were found dead and two others died later at the hospital, said a spokeswoman for Dalian’s Communist Party committee.
She said all 41 injured remained in the hospital, but none appeared in danger of dying.
