Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, host of the EU summut has been urged by the UN to find a venue for talks on plans to unite Cyprus.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan asked Fogh Rasmussen by telephone yesterday afternoon to find 'a suitable venue' for new peace negotiations between the Turkish and the Greek Cypriots, newspapers reported.

Yesterday, Annan called on Cyprus's Greek and Turkish leaders to accept this week a revised plan for reunifying the island.

Annan asked the two sides to be available "should that prove necessary" in Copenhagen, where the EU summit is due to accept Cyprus into membership.
