Second man arrested in Leslie sex assault probe
British police investigating allegations of sexual assault made against television presenter John Leslie have arrested another man in connection with their inquiries, it emerged tonight.
The former This Morning host was arrested after allegations made by three women – one of rape and two of indecent assault.
Leslie, 37, was arrested on Thursday and a 44-year-old man was also arrested in connection with one of the allegations on the same day.
A third man was also arrested but released without any further action being taken against him.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said tonight: “A 44-year-old man was arrested in west London in connection with an allegation of indecent assault made by Woman B.
“The alleged incident took place in south-west London in 1997.”
He added: “The man was taken to a London police station and bailed to return on a date in January to be confirmed.
“On the same day, a 36-year-old man was arrested in Edinburgh in connection with same allegation. He was taken to a police station but later released with no further action taken.”
Detectives who questioned Leslie are investigating a claim of indecent assault, in south-west London, in 1997.
They are also investigating an allegation of rape on a second woman in the same part of London the following year.
Another claim being investigated concerns an alleged indecent assault on a third woman in central London last year.
Leslie was interviewed at Belgravia Police Station, central London, and was bailed to return in January.
An earlier statement issued by Leslie’s solicitors said: “He strenuously denies all these allegations and intends to continue to do so, but he will assist the police with their inquiries.”
